DeRo brings home first victory for Dynamo

A late penalty conversion by Dwayne DeRosario was the game winning goal for Houston Dynamo–its first of the season–as the defending champions topped the Colorado Rapids by a 2-1 score. “I was glad to get that goal,” said goalkeeper Pat Onstad of DeRo’s winner. “Guys were pretty happy to get that monkey off our back.”
The win restores some order to Houston’s world and puts the team back in the thick of the Western Conference race.

Kyle Beckerman toe poked one past FC Dallas keeper Dario Sala late in the second half to put Real Salt Lake past FC Dallas 2-1 at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday night. Kenny Cooper had pulled FCD level early in the second half, but Beckerman’s goal turned out to be the winner. It was FCD’s first road loss this season but third game in a row without a victory.

Univision to broadcast soccer reality series»

Univision Network will broadcast a soccer reality show titled “El Juego Supremo” (The Ultimate Match) starting this fall. The show will bring together five soccer legends from Mexico and five from the Americas, including the U.S. These legends will assemble and train a team of rookies. Two legends from each team will serve as the primary coaches, and each coaching team will give 10 talented amateur soccer players the opportunity to demonstrate their skills on live TV.

Salt Lake County mulls extension for stadium»

Salt Lake County in Utah could indirectly continue to help the city of Sandy with funding for Real Salt Lake’s stadium, according to EUfootball.biz.

The county might extend a deal giving Sandy $300,000 a year for the Sandy Amphitheater. The deal was slated to end this year.
