Quel debut!

In a game that counted little if anything in the grand scheme of things, Thierry Henry dazzled a crowd of 20,312 at Red Bull Arena on Thursday night, scoring his first goal in a Red Bulls kit. Check out the Thierry Henry photo gallery from the match! Meanwhile, on the left coast it was Algeria all over again for Landon Donovan, only this time instead of the stars and stripes, Donovan was representing the LA Galaxy, and instead of soccer’s biggest stage, it was an MLS regular season match against in-state rivals San Jose Earthquakes.

PPL Park opener a dream for Philadelphia Union

By Breton Bonnette • Jun 27th, 2010 • Category: Features

Opening night at PPL Park had everything – a fire alarm scare (Chickies and Pete’s to thank for that one), fireworks, a packed house of 18,755 Union faithful, an electric atmosphere, fans spelling out “UNION” in blue, gold, and white seat cards, and Baldomero Toledo in the middle of the field. Nothing compared, however, to what all Philadelphians crave for: a win. They got that as well.
