Jack McInerney scored the lone goal in the Union’s second international friendly win that showcased all of the Union’s impressive youthful crop as the 18-year old striker lined up in the second half with fellow teenagers Amobi Okugo, Roger Torres, and a 15-year old trialist (U-17 standout) Zach Pfeffer.

ASN’s MLS Best XI, Week 20

By Breton Bonnette • Aug 29th, 2010 • Category: MLS News

DC United puts two players on this week’s Best XI since who knows when after beating up on a listless Philadephia Union squad at RFK Stadium. Danny Allsopp’s brace was overshadowed this week by high octane performances from Kansas City, Columbus, Red Bull New York, Houston, and even Chicago who lost the 4-3 goalfest at the head and feet of one Brian Ching. Ching hit for a hattrick, Marquez displayed his DP quality, and Kevin Hartman made sure that Dallas didn’t throw one away vs. Chivas USA as things start to heat up with only one third of the season left. Head here for ASN’s MLS Best XI for Week 20.

By Breton Bonnette • Jul 27th, 2010 • Category: MLS News

Week Sixteen (or Week Seventeen, depending how you look at it) confirmed that Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan still deserve their title as best duo in the league but, as it was, the Galaxy looked relatively vulnerable. It was Buddle and Donovan who bailed them out late vs. San Jose. Kasey Keller showed he still [...]

Saturday MLS Wrap: Philly edge TFC, Crew take control of East

By Breton Bonnette • Jul 18th, 2010 • Category: MLS News

Sebastien Le Toux strengthened his bid for an All-Star spot with a goal and an assist as the Union got back to their winning ways in front of 17,251 at PPL Park. In Columbus, the Crew had no problem dissembling a lackluster New York Red Bulls side who obviously need Thierry Henry’s help very badly.

By ASN Staff • Jul 12th, 2010 • Category: MLS News

On the last weekend of World Cup action, Major League Soccer had a full schedule of games on tap. There were several results of importance, perhaps none bigger than the Landon Donovan-less LA Galaxy loss at the New England Revolution. In Seattle, the young Sounders provided a spark but it was 19-year-old Miguel Montano’s red [...]
