Cyber Soccer Associates LLC (CSA) is the largest coordinated group of freelance soccer writers in North America, whose presence on the Web dates to 1996 and MLS’ inaugural season. We are currently taking applications for the following positions (updated Feb. 7, 2010):
Publisher
This individual will be in charge of the “business” side of our operations. There are a number of opportunities our current (editorial) leadership do not have the time or expertise to pursue. These are well advanced beyond the conceptual stage and simply need an experienced manager to execute (and monetize). New York City area preferred but not required.
Beat Reporters
CSA’s flagship (and to date, only) publication, AmericanSoccerNews.net, is seeking MLS correspondents and reporters to cover the Women’s Professional Soccer league in all WPS cities but Chicago, Los Angeles and New York/New Jersey.
We also have the following openings for the 2010 season (number of spots available):
Duties primarily involve covering the teams and writing match reports on home games. Prior reporting experience is helpful but not required. Solid writing skills, curiosity and above all a passion for soccer in general and MLS in particular are paramount. Spanish language skills a plus.
Internship credits are available.
Interested parties are asked to send a resume and 1-2 writing samples to ASN’s editor with the subject “ASN: Beat Reporter [team]” where “[team]” is the name of the team you are looking to cover.
Positions are unpaid but perks include press passes, free parking and attendance at any U.S. national team games played in the area. Many of our writers are hired to paying jobs at other outlets and at MLS (in fact, this is part of the reason why we have these openings).
Microbloggers/Twitterers
We are seeking microbloggers to “tweet” news updates and other info (including live game highlights) for all but the Toronto FC account. No experience necessary. Knowledge of Twitter and microblogging technologies helpful.
