Amaechi Igwe signs with Ingolstadt

Four MLS players added to U-20 roster for Netherlands tourney

The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team will travel to Uitgeest, Netherlands, from May 14-25 to compete in the Cor Groenewegan Tournament. U.S. head coach Thomas Rongen will bring 20 players to his native Holland for the competition, which will include four international matches. The 20 American players are based in eight different countries, including four who play in Major League Soccer: the Philadelphia Union’s Jack McInerney and Amobi Okugo, the New York Red Bulls’ Juan Agudelo and Chivas USA’s Cesar Zamora.



Under-17 USMNT trip canceled due to volcanic ash

The U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team’s trip to Europe, scheduled for April 15-May 2, has been postponed due to travel complications from the volcanic ash hovering over Europe. Wilmer Cabrera’s young squad, which had already made the domestic portion of the flight, returned to Bradenton, Fla., and will await confirmation of travel changes.

Philadelphia Union buy allocation rights from Red Bull, sign Michael Orozco

The New York Red Bulls announced today, Jan. 29, that it had sold its top spot in the allocation order to the Philadelphia Union. The newest Major League Soccer franchise used the spot on U-23 U.S. National Team defender Michael Orozco, who will join the Union on a loan deal Mexican First Division team San Luis FC.

Bryan Arguez, Hertha Berlin part ways

U-20 striker Tony Taylor to join Portugal’s Estoril

U.S. Under-20 international Tony Taylor has agreed to a deal with Portuguese second division side GD Estoril, ASN has learned. The 19-year old striker, who was just signed by Traffic Sports USA in September, was part of Thomas Rongen’s World Cup squad this summer.



U-20 Men start new cycle with Calif. training camp

The U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team will hold its first training camp of the new two-year cycle beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 16, and continuing through Dec. 23, in Chula Vista, Calif. Head coach Thomas Rongen has called in 36 players from professional clubs, colleges and youth clubs, who will train at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
